Our Inspiration

On April 20, 1992 our world came to a sudden stop, after being informed our first born son, Sultan Jihad Ahmad had been murdered. From the depths of our sorrow and pain emerged an idea of hope for all children. This hope gave birth to The Sultan Jihad Ahmad Scholarship Fund. This scholarship initiative will be a vehicle to guide as many young people as possible in the right direction with hope, encouragement and financial support.

Over a decade the Sultan Jihad Ahmad Community Foundation has provided over $100,000 in scholarships for college bound youth, and services that has given hundreds of at risk youth brighter opportunities and hope. As a result of the support we have received from so many people over the years our dream came true when in 2004 when we obtained the former O.I.C historical building which was the first renowned (Opportunity Industrial Center) in Philadelphia, Founded by the late Revered Leon Sullivan. This became the permanent headquarters for the SJACF. The walls of this historical building resonate of courage and commitment.

Sultan Jihad Ahmad would not have died in vain if we seize this opportunity now, to Transform his death into a “Beacon of Hope” for our youth of today and the future. Sultan was affectionately known to his family as “Jihad” or “Eatmore”. His friends called him “Sudee.” He was talented, healthy, inquisitive and always showing a strong zest for life. He was an inspiring and confident student of electronics, video games and computer science. He demonstrated his faith in his deeds. While practical in his own interest, he still found the time to be concern for the elders and youth of his community.

So you can see why we are so excited. We invite you to be excited with us, Please join with us, in providing an intuition that will reshape and redefine the aspirations and hopes of so many youth whose dreams of hope are threaten by the possibility of an early death as a result of senseless violent youth conflicts. We welcome you to join our global village. Let us together raise our youth to flourish into productive optimistic adults, thereby bringing to the world community the best in character and contribution.
